Deep Shiatsu Massage Course
Course Overview
The Deep Shiatsu Massage course focuses on the key Japanese Acupressure Points (TSUBO) used in traditional Shiatsu massage, integrating modern sports medicine approaches to effectively alleviate deep muscle tissue pain.
This course blends RSM’s sports medicine massage techniques (Trigger Point Therapy and Deep Tissue Massage) with traditional Japanese Shiatsu, offering a unique and scientifically backed deep Shiatsu massage experience through a variety of case studies.
Applying Qi Energy Through Therapist Posture and Movement
In this course, you will integrate the fundamental body mechanics seen in traditional Japanese martial arts such as Judo and Karate—center of gravity, body axis, and posture control—into the practice of Deep Shiatsu Massage.
This allows therapists to maximize their use of center of gravity, body axis, and kinetic chains, effectively channeling energy (Qi) to target deep muscle pain. Additionally, the course connects traditional meridian-based energy lines used in Shiatsu with modern sports medicine concepts, focusing on muscle spindles, Golgi tendon organs, fascia, nerve pathways, and joint mobilization techniques.
The course leverages over 25 years of practical experience in sports medicine massage training, combined with insights gained from anatomical dissection studies at the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, to teach highly effective deep tissue massage techniques.

Core Benefits of Mastering Deep Shiatsu for Aspiring Professional Massage Therapists
The Deep Shiatsu Massage course is a specialized oil-free therapy designed to relieve deep muscle pain, suitable for both novice and advanced therapists. This course is particularly ideal for therapists interested in Oriental therapy or Thai massage, as it involves the use of a floor mat rather than a massage table.
You will master effective therapist body mechanics based on principles of center of gravity, body axis, and kinetic chain movements, enabling you to provide deeper, more effective client treatments.
Additionally, by incorporating movements from traditional Japanese martial arts such as Judo and Karate kata, this course helps you attain a higher level of expertise and practical skill in massage therapy.
Japanese sports trainers come to RSM four times a year to enhance their skills in pain relief and postural correction.
They gain in-depth knowledge in dynamic myofascial release and stretching to improve range of motion.
